Are all SDS drill bits compatible?
Not all SDS (Slotted Drive System) drill bits are universally compatible. There are different types of SDS systems, mainly:
SDS Plus: These are the most common and used for light to medium-duty tasks. They have a shank diameter of 10mm.
SDS Max: These are designed for heavier-duty work and have a larger shank diameter of 18mm.
SDS Quick: Less common, these are typically used in specific tools and have a different shank design.
Each type of SDS bit is designed to fit its corresponding chuck type. For example, SDS Plus bits will fit in SDS Plus chucks but not in SDS Max chucks, and vice versa. Therefore, it's important to match the type of SDS bit with the compatible drill chuck to ensure proper functionality and safety.
